Safe Sex

  • Practising safe sex is key to reducing your risk of getting sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia.
  • Each time you have a new sexual partner, use a condom. Using condoms each time you have sex reduces the risk of getting or passing on an STI.
  • Each time you change sexual partner it is advisable for both of you to get a chlamydia test.
  • If you have chlamydia, do not have any sex (oral, vaginal, anal or sex toys) with partner(s) until they have been treated too.
  • You should abstain from sex for seven days after both you and your partner(s) have been treated for chlamydia.
  • The Family Planning Association www.fpa.org.uk provides comprehensive information on sexual health related matters.
