Are there any symptoms?

Chlamydia is passed through sexual intercourse, with a higher risk with unprotected sex. Therefore the best way to prevent getting chlamydia is to use safe sex, or condoms every time.

What are the implications of having Chlamydia?
In women, these include pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which can lead to infertility, seriously affect the womb and the fallopian tubes and can cause ectopic pregnancy (when pregnancy develops outside the womb).

In men, the infection may cause pain in the testicles and can cause infertility.
